The Artist Paul J Lane developed his passion and talent for music and songwriting through an apprenticeship forged in the demanding world of Social and Working Men’s Clubs from the age of 18. Performing to tough, entertainment-hungry crowds gave him a deep understanding of stagecraft, audience connection, and the art of delivering memorable performances. Years later, this journey continued through karaoke hosting across London, further refining his versatility as an entertainer and performer.

In the 1990s, Paul signed with SMI, gaining valuable experience in music production while being developed by acclaimed hitmaker Gareth Young, renowned for his work with artists including Dannii Minogue, Ronan Keating, Sugababes, Appleton and All Saints. This period provided Paul with a strong creative and technical foundation within the recording industry.

Although bass guitar remains his professional instrument of choice, Paul prefers to compose and write on piano, where many of his musical ideas first come to life.

His knowledge of publishing and the wider music industry expanded further during the 2000s through his partnership with fellow music journeyman Bruce Ruffin. This collaboration equipped him with the experience and tools needed to orchestrate film scores and oversee film-related music releases throughout the past decade.

Having directed music videos throughout much of his career, Paul developed a distinctive visual storytelling style that naturally evolved into moviemaking. Today, he has come full circle combining traditional live performance  recordings with modern software tech production to create and deliver new music and cinematic experiences.
