A new day begins, but for Paul the past is never entirely asleep.

He wakes from a recurring dream of the lead singer he lost a decade earlier, a presence that continues to occupy the uncertain space between memory, grief and something he cannot yet explain.

Reality offers little comfort. Waiting for him is a message from his girlfriend: she has met someone else. Suddenly confronted by the collapse of one future, Paul is forced to consider what, if anything, comes next.

Then, almost by chance, he discovers an advertisement: Bass Player Wanted. Auditions.

To anyone else, it is simply an opportunity. To Paul, still unsettled by his dreams and increasingly convinced that the future may reveal itself in unexpected ways, it feels like something more' a possibility arriving at precisely the moment he needs one.

Armed with a new sense of purpose, Paul makes a decision that appears simple but will alter the course of everything that follows.

He decides to audition.
